Join us for Open Day on Saturday 5th October from 9.30am-12pm
During the morning, you will have the opportunity to meet with Mr. Johnson, our Headmaster, as well as our wonderful teachers, will be available to answer any questions you may have. Our pupils will be on hand to give you a tour of the facilities and answer any questions. Following Open Morning we have Open Week which we invite you to come along and see us as a working school and nursery with all of our children. Open Week runs from Monday 7th – Friday 11th October from 9 – 5.30pm daily.

1884
Argyle House School was founded in 1884 by its founder, Mr Hanna, M A Principal as an all boys school.

1935
After his death, his three daughters took over and relocated the school to number 12 Thornhill Park. They ran the school until the last sister passed away in 1967.

1969
Their niece, Mrs Davis, then took over the running of the school until it was put up for sale in 1968 and subsequently sold to Mr J N Johnson in 1969. Mr Johnson moved the school to its current location at 19 and 20 Thornhill Park.

1996
Argyle House School went from an all-boys school to a co-educational school for all.

2004
The school saw many changes under the leadership of Mr Johnson and his wife. On his retirement, his son, Mr C Johnson, took over the school. Further developments have since taken place, with extra facilities added and subjects introduced.

2021
Argyle House School joined Forfar Education Group.

2022
In 2022 we launched our 50 week nursery, Little Crickets Sunderland.

Summer of 2024 saw the expansion of Argyle House School with the construction of a new classroom
