Tour Welcome

School tour picture 1Children are accepted from the age of 2½ into the Nursery, and progress through the school to complete their G.C.S.E’s at the age of 16.

The school was founded in 1884, and is situated in Thornhill Park, only a few minutes' walk from all major transport services. We also offer our own private bus services to supplement public transport, where this is needed by parents.

Any prospectus will provide only a flavour of the school, but to experience the unique atmosphere a visit really is essential.

By contacting the Head Teacher’s secretary a visit can be arranged for your child, or an informal talk to the Head Teacher, who will guide you around the school, answering any queries that you may have

Tour welcome picture 2Argyle House School creates an environment that embraces each individual. Being the only family-run independent school in the North of England has allowed the school to develop a caring ethos, one which can be only reflected within a family itself.

The small size of our classes, and having only one class per year group, enables us to know our children as unique individuals, which allows us to help/guide them through their studies and development into adults.

Mr JohnsonHead Teacher’s Statement

The school’s aim is to give every child the opportunity to learn and fully develop his/her abilities academically, socially and physically. Many factors contribute to this ethos: the size of the school, the family atmosphere created, and particularly the commitment of the teaching staff, who tutor children individually as a matter of course.
