A look through Pre-Prep
What can be expected from Reception through to Years 1 and 2.
Reception
In Reception, children learn through exploration, play and meaningful experiences that build secure foundations in communication, early literacy, mathematics and the wider world. Their days are filled with discovery, outdoor learning, creative activities and first experiences that help shape their confidence and love of learning.
Year 1
As pupils move into Year 1, they begin to take on more structured learning while still enjoying the joy and curiosity that defines Early Years. This is a time when independence grows, new routines take shape and children feel proud of having their own space and responsibilities in the classroom.
Year 2
In Year 2, confidence continues to build as children deepen their understanding across the curriculum. They develop stronger reasoning skills, ask thoughtful questions and begin to see themselves as capable and independent learners. Topics are brought to life through hands on activities, creative projects and planned educational visits that connect learning with real world experiences.
Life in Pre-Prep
Throughout Pre-Prep, children enjoy a broad curriculum supported by both class teachers and specialists in subjects such as PE, Music and French. Regular trips and enrichment activities help pupils make meaningful connections in their learning and create memories that last long after they move up the school.
