Welcome to the Prep School at Argyle House.

This is a place where children grow in confidence, develop their curiosity and learn to become increasingly independent. From the earliest years through to Upper Prep, we offer a nurturing environment where pupils feel secure, valued and ready to embrace new challenges.

Our curriculum blends strong academic teaching with rich opportunities in sport, music, art and outdoor learning. Life here is varied, busy and full of moments that help children discover their strengths. One pupil summed it up perfectly: “Life at Argyle House is exciting, friendly and full of things that help you discover what you’re good at.”

We are committed to educating the whole child. Character, resilience, kindness and a real enjoyment of school life sit alongside progress in the classroom. With small class sizes and dedicated staff who know every child well, we ensure each pupil receives the support and encouragement they need to thrive.

Life in Prep

A wide range of clubs runs throughout the year. Activities change termly and take place before school, at lunchtime and after school. Recent options have included Yoga, Duolingo, Origami, Space Club and many others. In addition, children can join paid clubs such as Ballet, Freestyle Dance and Karate.

We also offer an after‑school room where pupils can complete homework in a calm environment until they are collected. This is supervised by teaching staff who can offer guidance if needed.

School partnerships

We are committed to building meaningful partnerships that enrich pupils’ experiences both inside and outside the classroom. As part of the Forfar Education Group, Argyle House benefits from being part of a wider family of schools that share resources, expertise and opportunities. This network allows our pupils to take part in collaborative projects, Debating competitions and enrichment activities, such as Robotics, alongside children from our sister schools, helping them develop confidence and broaden their horizons.

Just recently our Year 5 and 6 pupils were delighted to travel to Brackenfield for a Careers Day within the Forfar group of schools, joining pupils from The Gleddings for a day of hands on learning and inspiration.
