Prep pupils at Argyle House School enjoy a varied and exciting enrichment programme that extends learning beyond the classroom.
With activities running before school, at lunchtime and after school, children have the opportunity to develop new interests, strengthen existing talents and take part in experiences that build confidence, teamwork and creativity.
Prep extra-curricular and enrichment
Across the week, the Prep enrichment programme ensures that every child can find something they enjoy. Whether they are curious about science, passionate about sport, interested in languages or keen to try something completely new, there is always an opportunity to get involved. These clubs encourage pupils to build friendships, discover interests and take pride in their achievements, helping them grow as confident, well rounded learners.
Clubs
Our clubs are designed to appeal to a wide range of interests across Years 3 to 6. Before school, pupils can start the day with Yoga, Science, STEM, German or Basketball, all led by enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. These sessions give pupils a positive and energetic start to their morning while offering time to explore specialist interests in a smaller, focused group.
School day
During the school day, pupils in Year 3 to Year 6 can also take part in Dance sessions, led by a visiting specialist. These sessions are a popular opportunity for children to express themselves physically while improving coordination and confidence.
Residential Trips
Pupils take part in an annual residential experience. In previous years, they have travelled to the Lake District for a three‑night Alex Rider–style challenge, developing teamwork, resilience and independence. They also enjoy an enriching outdoor adventure at Dalguise in Scotland, giving them the chance to explore nature, build confidence and create lasting memories.
Enrichment
After school activities offer even more choice. Pupils can join Computer and Duolingo Club, explore teamwork and skill development through Football Academy, develop communication skills in Sign Language sessions or take part in the Skiing Academy at Silksworth. For those looking for something more structured, Karate is available as a paid option and is open to children from Year 1 to Year 6.
Beyond the classroom
Enrichment is an important part of life in the Prep school, offering children the chance to explore new interests, meet new people and broaden their understanding of the world.
Year 5 pupils also enjoy taking part in the Enterprise Project, where they create and run their own small business, raising funds for the school community.
Year 6 pupils benefit from opportunities such as the annual Ski Trip, weekly Ski Club, Sports Competitions, Swimming Galas and practical computing projects using Micro:Bits.
