Senior School

What makes Argyle House a top independent school?

At Argyle House School, we proudly welcome pupils aged 11 and older to join our senior School in Sunderland. Our goal is to nurture well-rounded individuals by providing a broad and balanced education that goes beyond academics and empowers pupils by fostering intellectual curiosity, creativity and resilience. Through our diverse curriculum, sports programmes and extracurricular activities, we aim to equip pupils with the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to thrive in today’s ever-changing world.

Helping Pupils Reach Their Full Potential

We offer a range of GCSE subjects, covering a wide variety of interests and career pathways. This allows pupils to select subjects that align with their strengths and aspirations, creating a personalised learning experience that caters to each individual. To ensure that all pupils can achieve their potential, we design timetables with flexibility in mind, tailoring them to suit the needs of each child and year group. This adaptability helps to foster a positive learning environment where students feel supported and confident in their studies.

A School That Values the Whole Child

We work hard to develop the whole person and our pupils are encouraged to explore their passions, develop their talents and grow both academically and socially. Whether on the sports field, in the classroom, or during artistic or leadership pursuits, our pupils are supported in every aspect of their personal and educational journey.

In addition to academic excellence, our school places a strong emphasis on character development and well-being. We encourage pupils to get involved in school life and make the most of extracurricular opportunities. We are committed to creating an inclusive and stimulating environment that allows every pupil to thrive. We are proud of the strong values we instil in our students, as recognised in our ISI inspection report.

Before and After School Care

Pupils are welcome into school from 8am. Argyle House School runs daily homework clubs until 5pm. Pupils are encouraged to attend and receive additional help and the resources to be able to complete homework and revision.

We look forward to welcoming new members into our close-knit Senior School, where lifelong friendships and meaningful learning experiences are formed every day.
